What is OpenStack?

1. What is OpenStack?

OpenStack is a cloud operating system that manages and provisiones huge pools of compute, storage, and networking resources across a datacenter via APIs and common authentication mechanisms.

A dashboard is also offered, which allows administrators to maintain control while empowering users to provision resources via a web interface.

Additional components, in addition to typical infrastructure-as-a-service capability, include orchestration, fault management, and service management, among other services, to ensure that user applications are available at all times.

2. The OpenStack Landscape

OpenStack is divided into services, allowing you to plug and play components to meet your specific requirements. The OpenStack map provides a “at a glance” perspective of the open source environment, allowing you to see where those services fit in and how they can collaborate.

3. Sample Configurations

Consider these collections of OpenStack settings to be curated playlists. These sample setups are based on real-world reference architectures and OpenStack case studies from various industries and workloads. Each setup will show you which core and optional projects are appropriate for which situations.
